Almost there

It's been quite a few weeks: Seeing people to say "goodbye," for awhile, getting the garden ready, going over details of the house for Anna, our daughter, who will care for it while we're gone. Tomorrow, an electrician is coming to install a generator, in case we lose power in Hampton for awhile in our absence. (Hampton is generally the last to have power restored during an extended outage--not too many Hamptonites to complain). And the septic system, which couldn't wait until next year to fail, has been duly replaced and is up and running. With only five days before departure, we are just starting the packing process. Larry will likely have a third of what I plan to bring. But, although the airlines charge for luggage, our grant will cover all extra baggage expenses. Whoo, whoo! I'll bring the kitchen sink. Wait, our apartment has one, or so our landlord tells us. Speaking of . . . he says that the apartment is furnished. But there is no mention of sheets, towels, pots and pans, dishes, and so on. I'm counting on his wife to say, "but of course we have to supply them with sheets," etc. If not, I know what we'll be doing on our first day there -- once we wake up from our traveling stupor.
Next post, I hope, will be from Turkey.
