New computer
Well, as promised (to myself, from myself), I've bought a new computer to bring along with me to Turkey, so I can bore you all with my "Anatolian musings." It's a tiny netbook, with only a 10" screen. In one day, though, it's up and running and working quite well. I've even gotten used to the track pad--sort of. Would you believe that, although the brand name is Asus, the type of computer and what shows up on the opening screen is EEE PC! I didn't notice this until I got it home. Good grief. (For those of you who don't know me that well, my initials are EEE).

Hoş geldiniz
That's "welcome" in Turkish.
This September, Larry and I will travel to Ankara, Turkey for the 2009/2010 academic year. Larry will teach history at Hacettepe University and I will tag along for the ride. In 1994/95, we had a similar adventure, that time at Bilkent University, a neighbor of Hacettepe. For more information about both universities, their web sites are:
http://www.hun.edu.tr/english/index.php and
http://www.bilkent.edu.tr/
On June 2, the photo image on the Bilkent University home page was the library building, highlighting a section including their Special Collections Department. Fifteen years ago, I briefly assisted in the design of a section of the building, as well as the layout of the Special Collections area. Now I will have the opportunity of visiting the completed project.
This blog is meant for my family and friends to follow my great Anatolian adventure. Anatolia, by the way, makes up most of the country of Turkey. For a description of Anatolia, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatolia
I'll try to update the blog on a regular basis, perhaps weekly (so as not to bore you too much). Thanks for your interest!
